Wonder Equine Therapy

Wonder Equine Therapy

Create a life with wonder and joy in beautiful West Marin County

We provide unique experiences to interact with horses in a natural setting. No horse experience is necessary. Under the guidance of trained counselors and horse professionals we use interactive experiences with horses to foster emotional, social, spiritual and psychological growth. Our therapeutic center offers caring, innovative, professional services that provide opportunities for growth and learning. These professionally guided experiences empower our clients to develop and discover unique solutions for themselves. What matters is not whether the client accomplishes the task but how the client approaches the task and what they experience during the process.

Equine Assisted Psychotherapy and Equine Assisted Learning:

Because of the intensity and effectiveness of Equine Assisted Psychotherapy, it is a different model than long-term Psychotherapy. It is considered a solution focused, short-term or a “brief" approach. EAP is experiential, the participants learn about themselves and others by engaging in activities with the horses, and then processing and discussing feelings, behaviors and patterns. Equine Assisted Learning is similar to EAP but the focus in on learning and educational goals. The experience of working with the horses allows an opportunity to address issues of balance, timing and feel. The goal is learning specific skills as defined by the individual or group such as leadership skills, balance, movement, communication skills and problem solving.

Children’s Program:

During these sessions individual students practice sensory integration, rhythmic, balance and strengthening exercises, which are fun, challenging and powerful. Whether students struggle with coordination, sensory integration, sensory imbalances, or other physical challenges, this movement program can build confidence and strength.

These individual sessions are geared towards children with auditory and visual processing problems who need movement therapies that strengthen their vestibular/balance system. Children who have difficulties with sitting still, paying attention, and visual processing/visual memory skills, that impact reading, writing, spelling, and mathematics, can benefit from movement therapies that strengthen proprioception.
